FMTV - Poisoned Lives: Secrets of the Chemical Industry

Poisoned Lives: Secrets of the Chemical Industry

Runtime: 52m 20s | Release date: 2016

Alice, Kenton, Bucky, and Rachna are the hidden victims of the chemical industry. They all grew up in either India or in the US, in towns built around plastic and pesticide factories.

For a long time, the resounding success of the chemical industry has masked the darker reality behind their practices. For several decades their factories have secretly dumped toxic products into rivers, groundwater systems, and soil. This pollution has affected thousands, causing disabilities, cancers, and death.

No one is safe: both the inhabitants of these regions and the employees of the companies have all been affected. But the chemical giants will do anything to keep these tragedies a secret.

Through the analysis of samples and confidential documents, the two directors gauge the true extent of the contamination and ultimately shed some light over years of lies and impunity. All that remains are the testimonies of the victims across the world; those whose lives have been poisoned...

Featuring:

Arthur Bouvart
Jules Giraudat

This was a powerful documentary and the message speaks for itself. I have a girlfriend who worked for Dupont years ago, and I believe her congestion over the years is from working there. I will watch this again just incase I missed something. Thank you

An informative film, yet deeply disturbing. I don't understand why these companies are not prosecuted for poisoning both people and the environment.

Why are these companies not held accountable is absolutely criminal. The continued denial and secrecy is horrifying. The people responsible will have to deal with their karma. In the meantime, innocents suffer. Incorrigible!!

The beginning of the film made me so sad I couldn't finish it. With the current EPA issues under Scott Pruitt I don't think anything is going to change during this administration. Hopefully the courts will bring justice. I do believe things will get better in the future!

Nothing surprises me when it comes down to humans, greed always comes first. Money corrupts. Yes, we all have to work, to earn to feed our families but where is our common decency. These people must be poisoning themselves, both with their own toxins and with the guilt they must feel as they know they are harming others, the plant and future generations, maybe even their own. But money wins over human life. What is the answer. Well thats a complicated answer as we've all contributed to poisoning our world. But, if we act NOW, we can clean this place up if we ALL make the decision to live in accordance with Nature, doing the best you can with what is available to us. Eat natural organic foods (grow your own!), don't buy processed, man-made, chemical ladened products, there is always a natural alternative. Buy a good quality stainless-steel/titanium/enamel pan and use it to cook everything in and make sure you look after it properly and it will last you for years and years. Even enamel is not the same as it used to be. Do your own research. Don't trust anyone, even those dealing in "alternative" health have been know to sell their souls to the devil! Sorry folks, but thats life today - as I keep saying humans have become parasites and I think thats doing parasites an injustice! Before you slate me for my comments, just look around you and at your own life, where could you clean it up and make things not only better for yourself but also for the whole of humanity??? We have to start thinking and acting bigger, not just for ourselves but for the human species and more importantly the Planet (as there will be another species ready and waiting to take over from us once we have poisoned ourselves to extinction.......

Once again a real eye opener. Thank you for bringing this to us so we can share the information with family and friends. Knowledge gives us power to do what we need to do to make healthy changes. Thank you again. Wendy

This is scary. Begging of the movie was kind of boring so I didn't continue watching. But then pressed forward and watched from the middle. So what is the healthy alternative for Teflon? What cookware is less harmful?

Hi Olga. For healthy eating, find some quality titanium cookware and learn to cook foods below 200 degrees to preserve the nutrients and receive the best value out of your food.
