FMTV - Plastic Planet

Plastic Planet

Runtime: 95m 04s | Release date: 2009

We live in the Age of Plastic. It's cheap and practical, and it's everywhere -- even in our blood. But is it a danger to us?

This feisty, informative documentary takes us on a journey around the globe - from the Moroccan Sahara to the middle of the Pacific Ocean, from a factory in China to the highest peaks of the Alps - to reveal the far-flung reaches of our plastic problem. Interviews with the world's foremost experts in biology, pharmacology, and genetics shed light on the perils of plastic to our environment and expose the truth of how plastic affects our bodies and the health of future generations.

Featuring:
Werner Boote
John Taylor
Peter Lieberzeit

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS FILM. WE NEED TO RALLY TOGETHER AND DEMAND BETTER FROM COMPANIES AND FROM OURSELVES! WHILE IN FLORIDA MY SON AND I PARTICIPATED IN A BOY SCOUT STEM AND CORAL RESTORATION CAMP AT THE SEABASE. THE CAMP INCLUDED TAKING SEA FLOOR SAMPLES IN THE GULF AND ATLANTIC, THE AMOUNT OF MICRO-PLASTICS WAS SHOCKING! WHAT LOOKS LIKE SAND, WHEN FILTERED IS ACTUALLY PLASTIC.

Thank you for opening my eyes to this global problem we have created. Now we must eradicate this mess without creating another horror story. Hopefully its not too late to protect future generation.

Very good film: content & production value. I understand it is 10 years old not (2009). I just came across an EU-article about micro-plastics. Here it is: https://horizon-magazine.eu/article/we-still-don-t-know-enough-about-dangers-microplastics.html?utm_source=HORIZON&utm_campaign=d2ebea145a-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_01_18_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bdcf6f64ca-d2ebea145a-121337517

Very good film, I'm starting using less plastic and I just realized I'm not doing enough. Even bulk stores have plastic containers, it's everywhere! But it's great that now we know and we can do something about it!

What a fantastic film. I was so shocked about the hormonal effects. We’re surrounded by the stuff! I also realise what plastic looks like in the oceans. Industry don’t want to admit plastic is destroying our world. I aim to make every effort to reduce my use of plastic.
