FMTV - Plastic Planet

Plastic Planet

Runtime: 95m 04s | Release date: 2009

We live in the Age of Plastic. It's cheap and practical, and it's everywhere -- even in our blood. But is it a danger to us?

This feisty, informative documentary takes us on a journey around the globe - from the Moroccan Sahara to the middle of the Pacific Ocean, from a factory in China to the highest peaks of the Alps - to reveal the far-flung reaches of our plastic problem. Interviews with the world's foremost experts in biology, pharmacology, and genetics shed light on the perils of plastic to our environment and expose the truth of how plastic affects our bodies and the health of future generations.

Featuring:
Werner Boote
John Taylor
Peter Lieberzeit

Very good film: content & production value. I understand it is 10 years old not (2009). I just came across an EU-article about micro-plastics. Here it is: https://horizon-magazine.eu/article/we-still-don-t-know-enough-about-dangers-microplastics.html?utm_source=HORIZON&utm_campaign=d2ebea145a-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_01_18_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bdcf6f64ca-d2ebea145a-121337517

Very good film, I'm starting using less plastic and I just realized I'm not doing enough. Even bulk stores have plastic containers, it's everywhere! But it's great that now we know and we can do something about it!

What a fantastic film. I was so shocked about the hormonal effects. We’re surrounded by the stuff! I also realise what plastic looks like in the oceans. Industry don’t want to admit plastic is destroying our world. I aim to make every effort to reduce my use of plastic.

I thought I was pretty aware of the dangers of plastic but this opened my eyes even further. It makes me sick seeing all the unnecessary plastic packaging 'adorning' our retail shelves. Unfortunately it is so endemic we will never be rid of it.

Excellent film. Well done - not sensationalized, or confrontational, just the facts....and sobering they are. We have already reduced plastic use in our home, especially around food and drinks, but didn't realize the global extent of the toxicity. Shocking really! Thanks for hosting this filmmaker.
