Of the Land

Runtime: 89m | Release date: 2015

Within the last half century, our agricultural and food industries have changed more than the ever before. New technologies and scientific ingenuity have given rise to genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and other man-made foods. Concerns are on the rise about the safety of GMOs in our food supply, given their incredible dominance in a large portion of our diets. Traditional organic farmers have been under constant attack by large corporate farming interests who seek to monopolize the farming industry.

Of the Land looks at our current food supply system as well as a variety of smaller, organic options available to consumers who want to support more sustainable and healthy farming methods.

Featuring:
Dr. Shiv Chopra
Jim Gerritsen

The only real vote we each have is how we spend our food dollars. This movie validates how we can make a difference regardless what BIG/Anything does. Thanks FMTV - keep the information coming!

I love all the points in this film but I think they need to take it a step further by saying "lets close GMO's down permanently" rather than "please don't sue us if your crop gets on my land" No one wants GMO's .....I think most everyone is getting tired of having it shoved down our throats.....I was delighted when the one elderly farmer was brave and enlightened enough to mention to the dastardly circle that is the Food, pharmaceutical and Health systems -how they give a slap on the others back each time someone eats their poisoned food, gets ill and goes to the doc to get a pill, chemotherapy or a shot to fix the "symptoms" of their ailment. Kudos to him and the others on this film for speaking out!

Love this film. Plan on showing it as part of a presentation at school. In particular, I loved a comment by farmer Ted Shively (?) on the connection with the herbicide company also being the seed company and also in pharmaceutical industry. More people need to see this and stop the DARK Act in Congress.

I loved this film. It demonstrated the stark contrast between corporate greed and human innovation. I hope it stirs something in all viewers to become part of the solution.
