FMTV - Invisible Illness

Invisible Illness

Runtime: 55 29s | Release date: 2019

INVISIBLE ILLNESS tells the stories of people living with an 'invisible illness', whether it’s chronic pain, Crohn’s, Lyme, SIBO, PTSD, infertility, or any of the many other illnesses or conditions not visible or obvious on the outside. These stories need to be shared. Stories of hope and resilience, courage and perseverance, and above all, a sense of community and belonging that is sorely needed. Not only stories from those suffering, but from the people supporting and healing those who live with invisible illness.

These and other conditions and illnesses don't necessarily manifest themselves in such a way where you can easily see the pain a person is suffering. This often results in friends, family, and even the medical community doubting or even dismissing the individual. So not only is the illness 'invisible,' often the person suffering feels invisible and invalidated.

Featuring:
Mystère Poème-Dawson

I watched this documentary while in bed, in my pajamas, as I say "waiting to become human". I was wishing they had interviewed more people that weren't so put together. I have difficulty getting dressed and certainly on most days, am unable to wear beautiful jewelry, fix my hair and put on makeup. Then, I realized the title does say "invisible" illness film. My illnesses are no longer invisible as they once were. I do, however still experience most of what everyone spoke about. Thanks for all of the insights.

I loved the film. I do wish they could have offered some nutritional insight. They did speak about the Gerson Therapy but seeing what they are eating , that they find may help them would have been interesting.

Thank you for this. I have IBS and did heal from SIBO but I think it has come back because of the amount of pain that I am in even when I am strict with my lowfodmap diet. It's always nice to hear from others who are suffering from something that people don't understand.

Excellent visit into this world I also inhabit. Affirming and grounded. I especially agree and believe that life is about meeting challenges and invisible illness asks us to have a deep relationship with ourselves and what is. The biggest challenge for me has been the limitation, how much to accept , how much to keep trying to overcome? Best wishes to all in this experience.xx
