Lemon Curd Tart

Exclusive on FMTV

Series: Healthy Decadent Desserts | Episode: 5 | Runtime: 02m 39s | Release date: 2017

This segment features: Rachel Morrow.

Many of you might cringe at us remaking such a classic dessert like the Lemon Curd Tart, but we promise this is just as good as the classic version you know and love; just healthier!

Creating healthier desserts can easily be achieved by tweaking a few simple ingredients. For example, in this classic, lovable dessert we've swapped out gluten-containing grains and flours in the base for nourishing nuts and gluten-free oats which make the perfect crunchy base. Then we've added things such as natural sweetener, coconut oil, and cacao butter to make a healthier curd.

Convince your friends and family that healthy baking is still delicious with this treat!

Can you use any other nuts in place of macadamia nuts. I have cashews on hand.

Hi JaNein! If you're unable to find this in your local health food stores and supermarkets, you can try to look for agave syrup (agave nectar) instead. Hope this helps! ~ Jasmin ❤

I made this last night it was very delish!! I don't think you need to add rice malt syrup to the base as there is enough sweetener with all the dates and maybe just a couple of Tsp's of honey added to the curd. I found this very overpoweringly sweet!!! Cheers FM..

Hi Fmtv, this recipe comes under the search criteria vegan but is not vegan it has eggs. Do you think I could use Aquafaba instead?

Hi Andreas! Thanks for bringing this up. We've now updated the site for this to be removed from the Vegan list :) With regards to Aquafaba, some vegans use this as a replacement for egg and use three tablespoons of aquafaba per egg - but you can just experiment and check the desired consistency. Hope this helps! ~ Jasmin ❤

Hi Zillah - This made 4 small tarts. You could definitely make in a larger tart pan for a dinner party. I would estimate it to serve 8. We served with some whipped coconut cream, but would be a treat with a scoop of coconut ice cream! Enjoy :-) Rachel
