What causes mental illness? Do our thoughts, moods, and behaviours depend upon what we eat?

Psychiatrists Abram Hoffer and Humphry Osmond met in Saskatchewan in 1951. They set out to prove that the symptoms of schizophrenia could be controlled with healthy, unprocessed food and large doses of vitamins. Sixty years later, it looks like they may have been right.

Thank you so much for such a common sense strategy for healing mental illness 🙏🏻
I have had a second stay in the mental health ward of the University Hospital, here on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia. And I have also had a second round of ECT to treat the horrible depression of Bipolar 2. Along with my current medication (Effexor & Epilim), I am going to add on the vitamin treatment and continue eating whole foods/raw/organic/vegan. I feel much more hopeful and also more powerful taking control of decisions such as what goes in my body. Thank you again!!

Impossible to watch because of constant, loud and dramatic classical music on the background.

Hi Tatiana, thank you so much for your feedback regarding the background music, however, as this film was sourced from a different filmmaker and was not produced by FMTV, there is really nothing that we can do to adjust the volume of the background music. But rest assured that I will pass along your feedback for our future films. Thanks so much for your understanding :) ~ Iris

Great documentary! Thank you so much for sharing, it was good to see all the old footage, great work. We need this kind of information, there is so much dis-information on the web. Good to see the scientific background reflected on these issues.
I am also EU based, thank you for the information given earlier, it is appreciated very much.
