Detox - Keep It Clean And Green

Program: 7 Day Smoothie Challenge | Episode: 1 | Runtime: 2m 45s | Release date: 2015

This segment features: James Colquhoun.

Featured in our 7-day smoothie challenge, this blast recipe is designed to aid your bodies natural detoxification pathways and will make you feel alive and refreshed. The banana in the recipe not only acts as a sweet flavor base, but is also rich in pectin, a digestive enzyme that assists in the digestion process and alleviates the body of heavy metals through a process called chelation. Adding the kale and beetroot into the blast amplifies the fiber content, which binds to free radicals and helps eliminate waste from the body.

Finally, topping up the smoothie with coconut water will not only help blend the ingredients together but adds a hit of electrolytes and boosts your circulation. Increased circulation of more oxygen to the body supports the cells and organs through two processes; firstly, better oxygen circulation to the liver cleans the blood and leads to a healthier and stronger life, and secondly, since the liver will function better and more efficiently, it can clean your blood and excrete out any toxins.

Maybe a silly question!
I always thought we couldn't digest grass, so wheatgrass confuses me. Is it different? I just signed up today so a newbie here lol

Hi Shelley! Welcome to FMTV! Wheatgrass is the sprouted grass of a wheat seed. Unlike the whole grain, because it has been sprouted, it no longer contains gluten or other common allergic agents. If you're looking for a quick and easy way to consume powerful superfoods in under 30 seconds, check out the Food Matters Superfood Greens: http://store.foodmatters.com/shop/superfoods. ~ Jasmin ❤

The beets looked cooked in this video but I may be wrong. Is it better to eat them cooked or raw in a smoothie?
