I am so disappointed that Food Matters is moving away from plant-based foods to animal products which are known to cause disease (read The China Study among others). Not only is this way of eating harmful to us, it is harmful to the planet. These are choices I make for myself and the environment and in Food Matters I thought I found a like-minded group since there are so many people and recipes out there cooking with animal products. Honestly, don't we want to move away from meals like chicken encrusted with potato chips - just because it is organic or uses almond meal does not make it a nutrient-dense meal with food containing life force!

Hello Almeda, we understand your concern and sorry if you've felt disappointed. Here at Food Matters we have a great respect for individuality. We encourage people to look at their 'food as medicine'. It helps people to look at the food they normally eat on a day to day basis and replace it with local, fresh, organic, more natural options. In choosing and making the articles/recipes we publish, we do not want to come from a world of "us" against "them" but we had more of a "oneness” approach. Whether you are a meat eater or a vegetarian or a vegan, our articles and recipes cater for everyone. Your feedback will be passed to the team :)

This is exactly why I love FMTV, they are open-minded and non judgmental. I do eat meat, but in the process of becoming healthier, am learning to use less meat in my meals. I do not judge others because they do or don't eat meat. This is the reason I have left other sites because of so many judgmental people, and some were quite hateful if you didn't eat the same way they did. We all have our road to travel, and should respect each others individuality.

If FMTV goes completely vegan, I won't be watching. For me, eating more plants does not mean no animal protein. I would ask that you consider goggling the criticism of The China Syndrom and getting both sides of the debate.
It's interesting to me that the people I hear about who went vegan for years and then their health fails, are very often angry. They speak as if they were duped into a lifestyle that ultimately cost them their health. Their are nutrients you Cannot get in a vegan diet and must supplement. To each his own, but maybe consider that some people choose a well rounded approach for good reason.

Hi Almeda, there are many people at different points in their journey. You make some great points, however it is important that there are stepping stones on the journey towards an ideal. It is a rare person who can make an overnight transition to a new way of eating that is radically different from their current status quo. For many people organic chicken encrusted in almond meal is a gateway into something better, which can be refined as time goes on, incrementally towards the ideal. We live in a world where the majority of people eat a western diet and aren't sorry about it. Let's not alienate those who are open to stepping away from that, however small that step may be. Everything counts.
