Adrenal Fix Smoothie

It is recommended that people with adrenal issues eat more frequently, making small meals that contain foods rich in protein, fat, and carbohydrates in the same meal. This blended smoothie contains those macronutrients, as well as vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and adaptogenic compounds in order to improve homeostasis.

When struggling with adrenal issues, it is recommended that you consume some food before 10 a.m., even though you may not feel hungry in the morning. Eating relieves the adrenals from having to produce extra cortisol to balance blood sugar levels after an all-night fast. The following blended smoothie can be used as an easy-to-digest morning meal.

Coconut water: Adrenal fatigue means that the body does not have the proper potassium and sodium balance required for the cells to be well hydrated. While you may drink enough liquids, the body will still lack electrolytes. The primary minerals and electrolytes in coconut water are essentially the same as those found in human blood plasma. Studies dating back 80 years document the successful use of coconut water in the treatment of malnutrition, dehydration, and electrolyte imbalance.

Quinton: As the original Western medical books detailed in the 1800s, people who have adrenal fatigue require additional sodium.QuintEssential BioTerrain Restore 0.9 (originally Quinton Isotonic) is pure, sodium-rich, marine plasma diluted to match the concentration of our blood. This is ideal for a sensitive system. It aids in gentle detoxification as well as the restoration of overall health. It is important to use the Quinton Isotonic minerals (0.9) to support the kidneys and not substitute Quinton Hypertonic minerals (3.3) which may further stress the kidneys.

Mucuna Pruriens is a tonic adaptogen that helps us maintain high levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione, and vitamin C, all of which are important for adrenal health. I consider Mucuna to be one of the most powerful of all adrenal and kidney-supporting superherbs. It has a tremendous track record dating back thousands of years in Ayurvedic medicine. In the Chinese tonic herbalism system, it would be considered a jing herb. Mucuna contains a very powerful neurotransmitter precursor called L-Dopa that converts to dopamine to help the body deal with stress. It can also help balance blood sugar.

Rosehip Extract is a natural food source of vitamin C. Vitamin C is not only an important part of a healthy immune system, it also plays a critical role in adrenal function.

Xylitol: Seek out and only use birch-derived xylitol powder. Other xylitol products may be made of genetically modified (GMO) corn.

Goji and Schizandra: According to the great Taoist Master Sung Jin Park, a blend of goji and schizandra can restore youthfulness, slow down aging, invigorate all twelve meridians, increase vitality, calm the nerves, nourish and cleanse the blood, protect the liver, strengthen the mind, improve sexual functioning for both men and women, improve respiratory functions, and beautify the skin.
